This adherence therapy manual describes a process and a set of skills to enable mental health workers to talk more effectively and to enable a process of shared decision making with clients about their medication. The key elements of the adherence therapy approach are:
Collaboration and flexibility
Working with the views and beliefs that clients have about medication
Exploration and resolution of ambivalence about taking medication
The manual is useful for workers and clients who have an interest in the therapy and want to know more. It is also useful for workers who have had adherence therapy training to guide and develop their practice.
